I was glancing through my ever-growing list of blog post ideas. My eyes kept going back to “RAOK.” Must be a sign, huh?

So then I started searching Google for images to use in the post. Come to find out, it’s RAK Week 2015. Talk about divine intervention!

Kindness in general has been a huge focus for me in the past few years. Kindness isn’t difficult. In fact, the habit is quite easy to embrace. So easy, in fact, that it becomes an automatic response.

Begin with a conscious effort and it will eventually become a way of life.

If it becomes your way of life, it can’t help but influence others to do the same.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if kindness became a world view?

Here’s a short list of very simple RAOK that you can do every day.

  • Let another car into traffic
  • Put your shopping cart into the corral
  • Give your shopping cart to someone just pulling in
  • Bring cookies to the police or fire station
  • Fill a parking meter for the next person when you’re pulling out
  • Shovel your neighbor’s sidewalk
  • Smile and say hi to a stranger

  • Place notes of appreciation on a co-worker’s desk
  • Recognize good customer service by filling out that online survey for your server or cashier
  • Put a sticky note with a motivational statement on a public restroom mirror or in a random book at the bookstore
  • Collect hotel toiletries and pass on to a homeless shelter or Turning Point
  • Tape a dollar to a pop machine with a note “Have a drink on me”
  • Compliment someone
  • Actually write a thank you note instead of sending a text or Facebook message
  • Donate clothing
  • Donate books to the library
  • Pay for the person behind you in a drive thru
  • Hold the door open for someone
  • When shopping on Amazon, use their Amazon Smile link and they will donate to your favorite non-profit
  • Put a love note in your spouse’s or child’s lunch
  • Collect flowers from your garden and take them to a nursing home
  • When you see a soldier in uniform, be sure to thank him/her for their service
  • Sign up to be an organ donor
  • Donate blood
  • Hug someone

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward,
safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”

Princess Diana

Kindness … pass it on!
